Gift ideas for fans of underwater photography
28th June 2011
Underwater photography can be seen as something of a niche market in the world of photography. In fact very little to delve into this area of photography with all the gadgets and expensive equipment that many professionals want. But it is growing in popularity and more products become available for both the serious underwater photography and the first hour. When it comes to buying gifts for a lover of underwater photography, there are a number of options available.
1) equipment
The most obvious, in terms of a gift is to buy a piece of photographic equipment to help underwater photography. For the first time, the counter must be really a camera itself, or a camera housing to an existing “land” of the camera. There are a number of homes available, but may be better to avoid these for the first time few people want to wet their expensive DSLR water regardless of the house claiming to be well protected. Therefore, it may be better to choose a specific underwater camera. These come in a variety of models with different prices.
Basic, single-use cameras like the Fuji Quick Snap pay very little, about U.S. $ 20-30, but the quality is generally very low and they only offer about 24 shows. These are good for those who test the water, because it was a person who enjoys photography and I know that you have the ability (like holidays) to use it.
For repeated use of a digital camera, such Busnel 3.2 megapixel digital is a better solution, about $ 200 in the U.S., it’s expensive, but the quality is better with flash and the ability to take as many pictures as desired on the digital format.
For a true professional cameras can be reached U.S. $ 1,000 range, such as the Sealife Reefmaster – but if you give this person a gift area is able to know exactly what they need already. There are also a variety of accessories like flash, lens, and so will continue to be available – but again, these are perhaps best left to individual choice, as far as gifts go. Although a welcome addition to any photographer underwater diving has a pair of binoculars that can be useful when you dive photos placed next topic!
2) BOOKS
There are a variety of books that are provided to facilitate underwater photography, in fact, a quick look at Amazon.com will reveal a wide range of values. Most offer an overview of this special area of photography, but two of my favorites are: Annemarie Kohler Photography Manual
- Underwater photography successfully by Howard Hall
3) COURSE
For the more advanced photographer, or just more serious sub, why not join them on a ground where they can learn or improve their skills. The courses are the best way to learn photographic skills, and this is especially true when it comes to water. Check your area to see if such courses are available, or failing that, why not try online courses, as www.underwaterphotography.com. Perhaps another idea would be to join a diving course, so they can learn skills that enable them to dive deeper and get more pictures!
4) IMAGES
Even if all the photographers love the pictures, they can also appreciate the work of others. Quick search on the Internet reveals a wide range of posters, prints and photographs of underwater photos, who likes the underwater photographer. www.Underwaterposters.com is a particularly good resource.
5) The TRIPS Agreement
Finally, if you really want to “squirt” for a very special gift, so why not order a person on a trip away where they can indulge their passion for underwater photography. Of course, location and travel time will depend on your location and budget, but two major dive destinations I personally are:
- Port Douglas, Australia: Great Barrier Reef
- Tofo Beach, Mozambique
